Blue Monday 2010

Today is allegedly the most depressing day of the year.

where W = weather, d = debt, T = time since Christmas, Q = time since failing our new year’s resolutions, M = low motivational levels and Na = the feeling of a need to take action (D is not defined).

Factors contributing to segunda-feira azul in Cabril are as follows:

  • my fingers are like bratwurst sausages from rheumatoid arthritis brought on by too much knitting (once considered impossible since I have not progressed beyond the maturity of a 20-year-old);
  • we still have no telephone line after three weeks;
  • the sky is still grey;
  • the ground is still mucky; and
  • Penfold‘s sinus cavities are still mucky.

But enough is enough! We are breaking our state of hibernation!

Roof Tiles

Penfold has just begun to tackle the barn roof, making way for a rush of productivity and progress. It’s time to get back to work, to achieve a few goals, to finally get this year started!

Goodbye gloomy days of winter, this may be Blue Monday but I see nothing but blue skies ahead …

.

PS: Obrigada to DaddyPdaisyfae, SueStinkypaw, St Jude, surftwin, Penfold and KPX for their comments on Hibernation.

    Unfortunately it’s just started raining. I’ll put some fresh straw in the box… x

    nice to see the math. i always feel marginally better if something is modeled with an equation. at least it isn’t just me! onwards, into the new year!

      Yes, always good to quantify the unquantifiable. Onwards, upwards, anything as long as it isn’t backwards! :-)

    Bravo and onwards… we are closer to February now, and that means closer to Spring ;-)

    I took delivery of a bunch of cardboard boxes… which is exciting because they are prep for our upcoming move. Alas, not yet to Spain, but to a lovely part of the country (where cost of living is much cheaper). So Blue Monday feels like a beginning to me! :D

    Take care!

      Fantastic news Jen, and one step closer to sunny España! Good luck with your move, I take delivery of my boatload of cardboard boxes next week – eek …

    We’re still contemplating quite a lot of winter; still, the goldfish have survived inside their icy sarcophagus. Now they’re saying there’s more snow on the way – not the goldfish, the weatherman!

    [We bought a calor gas stove as back up in case we have power cuts.
    Have yet to get a gas bottle. Hmm.]

    • Tango says:

      Now weather predicting goldfish, THAT would be impressive! ;-) Sounds like a good time to curl up with a good book and a hot water bottle while someone else goes out to buy a gas bottle … x
