Britain is covered in snow and the rest of Europe is preoccupied with weather warnings. Thanks to Santa Bravo we now have accurate indoor/outdoor temperature readings, barometric pressure forecasts, historical min/max records, humidity measurements and current lunar phases. Our weather data comes to us with Germanic speed and precision and we always know when to put another sweater (or three) on.
Yesterday morning it snowed (I use the term “snow” lightly) and by afternoon the blowing sleet was horizontal. For the second time this year we’ve lost our telephone and ADSL connection. As Dancing on Ice disappoints and our satellite signal wavers there is only one thing left to do.
Hibernate until spring.
This week’s theme for chick<8000clicks>chick couldn’t be more appropriate. Penfold just put another log on the fire and we’re making our way through Christmas presents on the left while djbeat is nursing her Vancouver hibernation hangover on the right.
.
PS: Muito obrigada to Alice, Sue, daisyfae, surftwin, Stinkypaw, Shannon, Emma and Somnambulist for their warm and encouraging comments on Marmite Socks.

Was Dancing on Ice rubbish? We recorded last night so have the power of delete.
Try and keep warm – knit something really BIG!!!
Rubbish might be a bit harsh, but it’s no Strictly! x
it’s about 2F here, which is “really freakin’ cold” C. all i want to do is sleep and eat carbs. i’m a bear… spring? please?
Winter is the time of the holy trinity: bread, wine and CHEESE! Hibernation until spring, I think the bears have it sussed …
so good to know that i am not alone in my hibernation tendencies (pouring rain here) … and i figure my trying to get out of it and it being jan 11th is a good thing
Oh you are not alone! Everyone I talk to is in deep hibernation mode. Don’t fight it, I say, just go with the flow. And with all this rain, we’ll be lucky if we don’t flow right into the next village … x
Hibernation sounds darn good at this point! It’s freezing in Montreal at the moment, so a good book (I see you have a Poter there) or more, some good DVDs and good companie, you’re all set! Let’s not forget the warm socks!
Oh, I remember freezing in Montreal – definitely not for the faint-hearted. I don’t think my little toes would make it through winter without my woolly socks!
Ah the big freeze is slowing here a tad, it was positively balmy at 2C today.
Before you know it we’ll be rotating our closets and looking for flip flops. Until then, I’ll just have another wintry brandy …
hibernate with a body…er…buddy…perfect!
I can’t think of a better way to stay warm
I’m just stuffing the bed with straw.
Oh and gathering my nuts up… x
Wasn’t there an earlier mention of roasting them……….?
Roasted straw beds? Sounds itchy … and a bit smelly … x
That’s good because I keep finding them all over the house (along with Ferrero Rocher wrappers) … xx
