Every now and then something happens to trigger a feeling of doubt. The first domino falls and soon my mind is filled with needless worries and worst case scenarios.
Earlier this week I had a brief but unfortunate encounter with a most volatile woman. Her deceitful behaviour left me doubting my beliefs about the need for honesty and ethics in business. It’s quite rare that I will allow anyone to raise my blood to boiling point but it’s been difficult to shake off her hateful venom. For the first time in over fifteen years I used the “c” word.
So the dominoes keep falling. I started knitting a pair of felted slippers that have me doubting they will fit anything smaller than a pair of elephant’s feet. I doubt nature’s gratitude whenever I look at the mimosa chainsaw massacre outside our front door. I cannot help but doubt the brave wisdom of Betty Friedan, Gloria Steinem and Germaine Greer whenever I see what Katie did next. And when I look at the pathetic attempts inside our mini kitchen greenhouse I doubt that I will ever have a green thumb.
But will I let one rotten apple spoil my faith in (wo)mankind?
I doubt it.
.
PS: Obrigada to Daisyfae, Penfold and Stinkypaw for their comments on From Dusk ‘Til Dawn.

I’d let it lose my faith in cantankerous old hags!
The rest of us are quite nice. Hopefully… x
Thanks for stopping the dominoes snookylumps x
I don’t know why one nasty chop can get to us, but it happens to me sometimes too. I think it’s the shock: because just like Titsy Katie these people are freaks who exist only in spite of all the honest, brave & true chicks out there.. Along with the condescending old fool, the bitchy old cow is a rare and dying breed, like some historical antique reminder…
Go the ‘c-word’, it’s an emergency!
I suppose the world needs condescending old fools and bitchy old cows … helps us appreciate the honest, brave and true!
last year i had a rather unfortunate interaction with a woman i met in the blogosphere. short story: she was the antichrist, with no offense directed at the actual antichrist, mind you….
i let the experience dog me for months… having not encountered such selfish, deceitful and manipulative behavior, i was severely jaded about humanity.
while keeping my guard up, i’ve since encountered enough randomly delightful humans that i’m better now. took awhile.
look for something positive, and perhaps the pendulum can swing back…
I’m really just annoyed with myself for letting her get to me — I’m usually much thicker-skinned than that.
Meeting people from the blogosphere — are you crazy??
Pendulum already swinging …
cantankerous? that’s your c word? ; p
shake her off t – figuratively & literally… some people just don’t deserve your attention.
got my socks today!!!
yay
Shaken, stirred and neatly put away in a cupboard.
Do the socks fit??
Good for you, don’t let one “c” (word of your choice) seed doubts in your head – let it slide and forget about it!
Already slip slidin’ away …
I wouldn’t worry about gorgons and greenhouses when you can take photos like that… the colours and composition are absolutely exquisite – bravo, Tango!
Sadly, I cannot take credit for that incredible photo. All the glory goes to a very talented Randy Weiner on Flickr but I might be able to knit some kind of gorgon …
I assume Randy is one of your aliases then…

Having met the old bag in question, I’d say pathetic is a more appropriate adjective. You could spell it backwards if you must use a ‘c’ word.
citehtap … hmmm, bit of a mouthful but far more polite x
