From Cambodia to Peru

We all have quirky things that irritate us and my favourite client in Vancouver is no exception. It happened whenever he completed an electronic form. Rather than scrolling down a long list of 195 countries in a drop-down list, he would press “C” for CANADA. His pet peeve was that, nine times out of ten, pressing “C” would land him in CAMBODIA. It never really bothered me but now I smirk in honour of his quirk every time I land in PERU.

It’s been a long winter and Quinta do Cabril remains in various stages of completion. There is still so much work to be done, I’m often overwhelmed by a heavy sense of frustration and guilt.  My thumbs are anything but green and the art of landscaping escapes me completely. It turns out I am missing the Martha gene.

In the last few weeks Penfold and I have started feeling antsy and restless. It didn’t take long for me to recognize the onset of wanderlust.

Machu Picchu anyone?

.

PS: Obrigada to daisyfae, DaddyP, Somnambulist, stinkypaw, djbeat, KPX and JohnC for their quiet comments on Whisper.

not nearly as exotic – but you could meet us in hawaii end of the month for surfing extravaganza…

Sounds just like what the surf doctor ordered. Now just need to win a small-to-medium lottery and aloha!

  2. You are very welcome here of course ….. I might be out though …..

I bought a lottery ticket last Wednesday, the first time for ages ……. I’m regretting it now of course ……. *sulk*

    • Tango says:

Hmmm … lottery ticket. I suppose we can’t win if we don’t buy tickets. Hmmm … what are the odds? And how many tickets do we have to buy? And how much do we need to win? What is our planned life expectancy?

      I think I need a spreadsheet …

Sometime a little time away is good… I’ll be leaving in 41 days, heading for Hawaii (as well)…

I also hate it when I hit “C” and end up “way far” from Canada as possible, but I’d love to actually “do that”, at times! ;-)

    • Tango says:

Gosh, Hawaii is popular these days! Haven’t been there since my 8th birthday when I wore a muumuu. Birthdays without a muumuu just aren’t the same …

And yes! Someone should invent the travelling keyboard machine thingy pronto!

  4. KPX says:

There’ll be a spare bedroom here . VERY SOON DP.

Corse, I can see that doesn’t have quite the same allure as Peru. BUT – we do have CHEDDAR!

strangely enough, i’ve been to both cambodia and peru, and consider them two of my most favorite ‘wanders’… the ’sacred valley’ of peru was a bit of magic. next time? i’m hiking in through the sun gate!

understand that you don’t channel ‘martha’. me neither. i’m a serial plant murderer of the highest order. local vegetarians have me on ‘most wanted’ posters at the local farmers market…

    • Tango says:

The sacred valley of peru sounds incredible, definitely on my list! Good to know that I’m in good plant-killing company … ;-)

oh I hope you get to wander a little soon… maybe just a little road trip to the North West of Spain? I just love the Picos de Europa and maybe you could surf too ;-) I know all too well what it’s like when you feel a little restless and it might be just what you need to get back in the swing of landscaping etc. Since we returned from our jaunt, work on the boat has progressed – woohhooaaa!!!!

    • Tango says:

Thanks Alice, you understand my itchy feet perfectly. We’ve been planning a tiny trip to NW Spain, just need to work on securing the house so those pesky thieving gypsies don’t rob us blind while we’re gone … Until then I shall travel vicariously on your boat! :-)

Was going to go over to Alice’s but the links don’t seem to be working, or is it me? x

  9. KPX says:

Oh. The side bar is, but not the one on the comment.

  10. JohnC says:

I would like to live in a place as nifty as that. But yeah, wanderlust…I can relate.

What’s the chances of you and penfold goin’ Bohemian and running off for trekking to/through China?
