When I told my friend, Rob, about my new life in Portugal he replied, “Sounds like you’re living the dream.” It’s been a year since I made the jump across the Atlantic and I’ve never forgotten his words.
It may be incredibly corny, but not a day goes by when I’m not grateful for where I am and who I’m with. It does feel like I’m living my dream. I know I’m genuinely happy because even something as mundane as doing laundry can bring a smile to my face.
This week’s chick<8000clicks>chick was a quote from J.K. Rowling:
It does not do well to dwell on dreams and forget to live.
I’m drying my socks on the right while djbeat is sharing the magical lights on the giant tree in English Bay with her baby boy.
I may be sleepwalking but for now I can’t think of a better way to live the dream.
.
PS: Muito obrigada and Feliz Natal to daisyfae, DaddyP, Stinkypaw, djbeat and surftwin for their comments on We’re Doing It.

sounds to me like you found the spirit, to ignite the dream, to live the life! I’m saying good riddance to 2009 and back to living & dreaming in 2010. But will this aussie ever get used to european winter? Maybe I need some maple whiskey elixor…
Cheers to living and dreaming in 2010! Now if we could just find a way to import that maple whiskey … and finish our houses …
i like the rowling quote… similar to one of my other favorites: “Don’t dream it, be it…” from none other than The Rocky Horror Picture Show…
Soooo much wisdom in Rocky Horror, although I still cringe at the thought of Penfold in fishnet stockings …
Actually he looks pretty good in them!
Sounds like sweetcorn to me. x
Or corn syrup … ? x
You are an inspiration … it takes real courage to live the dream and you did it. I’m so happy for you! It brings a smile to my face
Aw, thank you Susan! It’s moments like these when I wish I could reach out, clink my glass against yours and give you a big hug.
How’s your turkey dinner anxiety?
Ooh. Be careful with that sleep walking thing – don’t forget there aren’t any railings on the balcony…..
Railings? We don’t need no stinking railings!
Over confidence goeth before a fall.
I agree with KPX – Penfold looks lovely in fishnets ….. oh, those were the days …..
Oh stop it. For the love of all things holy, just STOP IT!! x
They look even better when they’re holey ……
Oh sheesh. I should’ve seen that one coming …
I remember when you were getting all packed up. Has it been only a year? Wow! I’ve always thought you and Penfold’s story was a pretty amazing one. You’ve been blessed.
Yep, we’ve survived a whole year together! Amazing and blessed, or just plain crazy …
That’s the way to live it, for sure, you truly read happy.
Thanks Stinkypaw! I type happy, too.
