Out of Towners

One of the best things about having out of town visitors is the opportunity to see your home through the eyes of a stranger.  Of course, since our cidade consists of two houses, just about everyone is from out of town.

I was excited and worried when I heard that P had decided to make the trek into the hills for a visit. Although we’ve known each other professionally for several years, it’s only recently that we became friends. He’s a city boy through and through (as was obvious from the size of his backpack) and I was worried that he would find our life in the country tedious and dull.  His visit was ridiculously short but I could see the puzzled look on his face beginning to melt away as he took in this strange, new life.  It was at the gorge when he finally had his eureka moment and everything about life at Cabril started to make sense.

You can take the boy out of the city ...

You can take the boy out of the city ...

It was a wonderful relief for me to see Penfold and P getting along so well. We laughed together, we played together, we explored together and we were hungover together.

P should have stayed longer but we all knew that the best time to leave is when you’re having the most fun.

beautiful! sometimes, when worlds collide, things don’t work out so well…. other times? hangovers for everyone! yay! (Shhhh… i know… be quiet…)

  3. If a fish had jumped up then, it could have gone straight up one trouser leg and down the other which would have been terribly amusing ….. but highly unlikely of course ……

    Course it makes sense.
I bet that water’s quite warm-ish at the moment. I love swimming in fresh water, but by the time we get there it’ll be chilly again. :(
