Running with the Devil

I’ve spent half my life fighting mother nature but I’ve finally come to accept the fact that I’m just not a ‘big picture’ thinker. I struggle to see a larger vision, a bigger context.  I feel overwhelmed by thoughts of global movements and changes in the universal plight.

Em detalhe ...

Em detalhe ...

Instead, I fall in love with the details. Microcosms fascinate me, draw me into their magical worlds of tiny beauty. I’d rather focus on one shining star than try to imagine the entire universe. So it’s no wonder that, despite being crap at math, I can build a meticulous financial business model. It’s no wonder that I can spend hours knitting intricate cable patterns. It’s no wonder that my favourite photography attempts are macro shots.

I will never stop looking up at the stars but for now I’m embracing the devil in the details.

  1. The ‘big picture’ thing is a load of rubbish – totally unpredictable and uncontrollable ….. it’s always the details that count …. they are what become the big picture. BTW, I’m crap at both if that helps ……..

Though it is nice to step back from the details now and then to see what kind of a bigger picture you’ve created :-)

Good for you! It’s in the details, often, that we see the big picture!

I’m actually quite thankful to have the ability to see more than one perspective, but I’m definitely more at home in the details!

I’m a big picture person – loads of inventive ideas but difficult to work out the detail – now I know where to come :-)
