I’d heard stories of our former neighbour since I started living here 10 months ago (gasp — 10 months already?!?). Her story must have fed Sunday gossip at the local church for years after she divorced her husband.
Uma divorciada!
And if the rumours are true, she embraced her newfound cougar status with gusto and quickly dug her claws into much younger muscles. Shameful, really … and most curious given the alleged gaping leg wounds, generous facial hair, roaring voice and ginormous thighs.
Up until our last day in Chã I had only heard stories of this woman but my only proof that she existed was the abandoned “storage shed” next door and a few stray cats she left behind. As far as I could tell, she was simply a local myth.
But the myth became reality. We knew something was up when two strange men appeared and began strimming the thick weeds and thistles on her land. Yes indeed, preparations were in progress for the return of the Great Guilhermina.
Days before our final move from Chã she appeared. It was a sunny Friday afternoon and I was both frightened and delighted when I heard the enourmous Portuguese bellow from the casa next door. She was real! She actually existed! And wow, she lived up to every gruesome description. Gilhermina did not disappoint.
The neighbours at Cabril aren’t quite the stuff of mythic proportions, but after this week’s encounter I see potential …
.
Thanks for all the housewarming wishes on Home! from DaddyP, LoTG, 70steen, daisyfae, surftwin, Stinkypaw, Wendy, djbeat, Sue, John and last (but certainly not least) ESTA!

Wow – that’s a nice house warming present for the new incumbents! Tee hee, as Peabrain would say.
She left as quickly as she came, hopefully she’ll welcome the new incumbents with a housewarming bellow soon … x
I always had rather a soft spot for Guilhermina ……. I like ‘powerful’ goddesses ……
Well those thighs definitely looked “powerful” …
you know, we’re going to need pictures… too much fun!
Not unlike the Yeti, Guilhermina tends to shy away from the camera …
Now we’ll have to see her as well! I’m sure you’ll be able to sneak in a picture or two!
She disappeared as quickly as she appeared! I’m afraid you’ll have to rely on your imaginations …
