It must be Easter because my head is filled with lyrics from Andrew Lloyd Webber’s 1973 masterpiece, Jesus Christ Superstar. Religion was fairly subdued in the Bravo family, the focus was definitely more on the loopholes of hell than on the obstacles of heaven. So JCS served as the total of my education about this mysterious crucifixion that resulted in annual chocolate bunnies and multi-coloured eggs.
To this day I can’t imagine Jesus not looking like Ted Neeley.
Feliz Páscoa to all and remember … chocolate calories won’t be resurrected until the third day after you try on your new spring bikini.
.
PS: Obrigadinha to Daddy P, Penfold, Alice, KPX and stinkypaw for their comments on A Primaveira!

I think Andrew Lloyd Webber might make a success of his career …… but I reeeally wouldn’t to see him in a bikini …..
Not so sure I’d want to see JC in a bikini either …
Ted Neely was touring last year in the US with a resurrected “JCS”… he’s SIXTY something, still wore the loincloth, and got nailed. Did NOT nail all of the high notes, but i gave him major points for trying…
(we share a religious upbringing, by the way. JCS, “Godspell”, “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” contain the only biblical trivia that i know…)
Ted Neeley is 60?!? I preferred to think that he never got older than 33. Sounds sadly like the time I went to Vegas to see Wayne Newton. Definitely couldn’t hit the high notes, I felt quite embarrassed for him. Not as embarrassed as I would have been if he’d been wearing a loincloth …
The Lord Andrew’s current obsession is to find Dorothy – think what your religious beliefs might be if you were growing up today.
I am still laughing to myself as I picture various incarnations of religion in Oz …
Very real for you, * hug * ?x x
Reading this I realised that my “image” of Jesus might also come from this “JCS”, not all that bad, afterall!
I think it’s the hair …

OMG – I missed this post (saw it mentioned in your Jardim de Abril entry). Jesus Christ Superstar/Ted Neeley was my childhood religious education as well (much to the horror of the very religious other side of my family).
We got to meet Mr Neeley in Pittsburgh in the 90s as he was touring with the show then too. My mom was working at a dry cleaner that did his wash and when he came in to retrieve it my mom stopped him with a “You’re Ted Neeley.” He was appreciative that my mom recognised him and asked if we’d like to meet him back stage at the performance. He is such a nice guy. It was so cool – three of us met Jesus that evening!
Still my favourite musical ever. (And I don’t remember him missing any high notes in the 90s…)
You met Ted Neeley?!? I also saw him tour in the 90s along with Carl Anderson who was nothing short of brilliant. Yup, best musical ever. I really must get myself the DVD for next Easter …
